Horloge de Charles V sur la tour de l’Horloge, avant restauration

This photograph shows the clock of Charles V, dated 1371, on the tower of the Palais de Justice on rue du Palais, on the Île de la Cité in Paris, in its state before the restoration carried out in 2012. The composition highlights the sculpted and painted decoration surrounding the dial, with its allegorical figures, coats of arms, and richly ornamental framing. The image emphasizes the monument’s heritage value and the survival of a medieval decorative ensemble altered over the centuries in the heart of the former royal palace that became the Palais de Justice. It is a modern photograph taken in 2008 by Siren-Com, not an original medieval work.
