Art du XIXe siècle · Domaine public

This illustration depicts Chlothar I, son of Clovis, leading the Franks to victory against the Thuringians in 531. After Clovis’s death, his sons continued expanding the Frankish kingdom by fighting neighboring peoples. This victory helped strengthen Frankish dominance in Central Europe. The scene illustrates the continuation of Merovingian conquests and the consolidation of power by Clovis’s descendants in a world still marked by rivalries between Germanic kingdoms.
