Barons assembled and plotted to capture the king, separating him from his mother to govern in his name.\u003C/p>\n\u003Cp>A key moment: the attempt failed thanks to Paris’s reaction. The Parisians mobilised, protected the king and reaffirmed the political alliance between the city and the monarchy.\u003C/p>\n\u003Chr>\n\u003Ch2>🔥 1228–1231: Coalitions, Rumours and Counter-Campaigns\u003C/h2>\n\u003Cp>Coalitions reformed in 1228. They also attacked the supporters of royal power (notably in Champagne) and spread rumours against Blanche. But the barons were unstable: some shifted from rebellion to obedience, impressed by the royalty even embodied by a teenager.\u003C/p>\n\u003Cp>In \u003Cstrong>1230\u003C/strong>, Louis IX took command of the royal host. Campaigns targeted the West and Champagne:\u003C/p>\n\u003Cul>\n\u003Cli>captures and recaptures of positions (including \u003Cstrong>Bellême\u003C/strong> and positions around \u003Cstrong>Angers\u003C/strong>);\u003C/li>\n\u003Cli>pressure on Breton rebels;\u003C/li>\n\u003Cli>truce imposed at \u003Cstrong>Saint-Aubin-du-Cormier\u003C/strong> in spring 1231.\u003C/li>\n\u003C/ul>\n\u003Cp>In \u003Cstrong>1230\u003C/strong>, Henry III landed at \u003Cstrong>Saint-Malo\u003C/strong>, but dared not engage in a decisive battle: the English intervention came to nothing.\u003C/p>\n\u003Chr>\n\u003Ch2>🏁 1234: End of the Cycle\u003C/h2>\n\u003Cp>As military operations and targeted concessions produced their effects, the opposition disintegrated.
